Rod "Rocky" Walter Bublitz, age 72 years, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 10, 2019 after a courageous battel with lung cancer, at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born on May 11, 1947 in Bay City, the son of the late John and Iva (Doyen) Bublitz. On February 14, 1995 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Wachowski, and she survives him. Rod was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the US Army where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church, Amvets Post 22, American Legion Post 18 and the DAV of Nokomis, FL. Rod was the owner of Easy Self Storage, R.W. Bublitz Trucking, R.W. Bublitz & Sons Farm and the longtime owner of Center Road Bar. Rod was a loving husband, father and brother, who was loyal to his family and always had a zest for life. He enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing and spending his winters in Florida.

Surviving family include his wife, Carolyn; three children, Rocky Jack Bublitz, Robyn Bublitz and Roland Bublitz; siblings, MaryJo Sheldon, John (Ida) Bublitz, Frederick "Fritz" (Sue) Bublitz and Lois Walraven; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Bublitz and many nieces and nephews. Rod was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Bublitz and half sisters, Margaret Framke and Evelyn Wentworth.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Floral Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors conducted under the auspices of the Bay County Veteran Council and the US Army. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church – Mortgage Fund.
