Frederick W. Boehringer was born in Bay City, MI on July 14, 1914 to the late Albert G. and Wilhelmina (Klumpp) Boehringer. He passed away at Saginaw Senior Care on October 13, 2016 at the age of 102 years.
Fred was owner of Boehringer Greenhouses until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church where he served as an elder, trustee, school board member, choir director and organist. Fred was founding member of the San Toshi Bonsai Society, an honorary member of the Bay City Garden Club, a member of the Saginaw Valley Orchid Society and the Saginaw Gentlemen's Garden Club as well as a district representative for F.T.D. He was a member and past president of the Bay Community Concert Association and was a member of the Saginaw Valley Lutheran Choral.
His wife, the former Doris Beyer preceded him in death. He is survived by 3 children: Susan (Alfred Jr.) Cereske, Rev. John (Patrina) Boehringer and Christine Bedor, 7 grandchildren: Thomas (Kim) Cereske, Kurt Cereske, Eric (Jennifer) Cereske, Luke (Sarah) Boehringer, Mark Boehringer, Matthew (Laura) Boehringer and Beth Boehringer, and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight siblings: Alma Weller, Anna Dorothea McKay, Nelda Gougeon, Edwin Boehringer, Carl Boehringer, Albert (Barry) Boehringer, Margaret DeYoung and Norman Boehringer.
Funeral service will be held at Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church, Bay City on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mark Luetzow will officiate with entombment following at Floral Gardens Mausoleum. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, Bay City. He will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu flowers, please consider memorials to Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church "Feed My Lambs" Fund.
